Who do you work with?
We work with adults who are physically located in New York State at the time of their sessions, including individuals, couples, and groups. For couples therapy, only one partner needs to be located in New York during the session. Many of our clients are thoughtful and self-aware, and some have worked with multiple therapists in the past without seeing the change they were hoping for. Our assessment-driven, pattern-focused approach often helps clarify what was previously missing and allows the work to move forward in a more focused and effective way.
Are sessions in person or online?
All sessions are conducted online using a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. Online therapy allows the work to be consistent, accessible, and integrated into real life, while maintaining depth and focus. Many clients find that meeting online actually supports continuity and momentum in the work.
How do I choose the right therapist?
Research shows that effective therapy depends less on choosing the “perfect” therapist at the outset and more on working with someone who is responsive and able to adjust the work as it unfolds. That responsiveness, however, requires a high level of clinical skill and the ability to draw from more than one approach. At New York Therapy, treatment begins with careful assessment and is guided by clinicians trained across multiple evidence-based models, allowing the work to be adjusted thoughtfully rather than relying on a single, cookie-cutter method.
How do sessions work, and how long are they?
Sessions are typically held weekly and last 45 to 50 minutes. The work is structured and collaborative, with a clear focus rather than open-ended conversation. Frequency and pacing are adjusted thoughtfully over time based on what is most helpful for the work.
Do you accept insurance or offer out-of-network billing?
New York Therapy is an out-of-network provider. We provide detailed superbills that clients may submit to their insurance carrier for reimbursement, depending on their plan. Many policies offer partial reimbursement, often ranging from 50 to 80 percent, though coverage varies and is determined by the insurer.
